“I’m Happy To Be Here Tonight” by HEHFU // Come Home EP (2012)
Bradley Clarke’s HEHFU project is already back with more great new music following the release of this fall’s excellent full length, Music For My Broken Ears. This time around he’s dropped a free EP on Bandcamp, entitled Come Home, and he further explores and killer lo-fi, noise pop sounds of that previous release. The excellent “I’m Happy To Be Here Tonight” is a standout, with it’s fuzzed out guitar and driving beat that calls to mind early R.E.M. (as well as 100 Broken Windows era Idlewild - as I mentioned previously). HEHFU is mining a similar territory as recent releases by Yuck and Gross Magic that seem to realize that the golden age of indie rock still has plenty of gas left in the tank. I wholeheartedly agree.
